"Hört auf uns zu retten!" Über die Ritualisierung der Finanzmärkte

In recent decades, in many developed countries, the techniques for managing social processes have evolved in the direction of governance without government, whereby the selection of resources to be “saved” is no longer the result of a political decision but is driven by the market. The resulting situation shows significant similarities with the ritual practices of archaic societies, suggesting the hypothesis of a gradual ritualization brought about by the fact that the economy is now directly charged with the social function once entrusted to religious practices, i.e. stabilization of the recursive expectations on which social cooperation is based
